Cedar Pillars Fine Carpentry was founded by Reggie Sabin in 2020 with a crew of two, Reggie and an apprentice. Within two years, the company had grown to two crews and was completing apartment finish carpentry for commercial builders.
Knowing exactly what site supervisors need, and how to get the work done efficiently with few to no callbacks on a punch-list, led to more work. Today, Cedar Pillars continues to grow with a commitment to building teams that share our core values and mission.
As a child, Reggie found building tools fascinating, and right out of high school, he landed a job doing rough carpentry. He loved the work and always looked for ways to expand his skills in the trade.
Throughout his career, he worked with true craftsmen who placed a high value on their work. These men enjoyed teaching as much as doing carpentry. They patiently taught Reggie the best industry practices that avoid wasting material, and improve efficiency while producing the highest quality results. Reggie often recounts appreciation for their instruction, even passing along techniques from past generations of woodworkers.
As his experience grew and he took on more responsibility as a superintendent for larger commercial projects, he worked under dedicated, ethical managers for companies that truly cared about, and invested in, their employees. In these contexts, Reggie began to formulate his dream to start a company that carried on the values he had grown to appreciate.
That dream was the beginning of Cedar Pillars Fine Carpentry. Reggie continues his vision to build a company with a team that shares the Cedar Pillars’ mission and values.
Keeping in mind the importance for safety, efficiency, and presentation, Cedar Pillars promotes a clean and orderly job site. We set up our equipment and materials so that we can minimize steps and maximize use of our cutoffs later. This helps with efficiency and limit overall waste.
As a manager of Cedar Pillars teams, I communicate daily with the other tradesmen on the job site and set goals that I want for myself and my team to get done every day. When needed, we’ll start the job early, and make necessary adjustments throughout the day to make sure that the job gets done on time.
